About Madhira

Madhira Town is headquarter for Madhira assembly Constituency in Khammam district. It is the gate way to Telangana state from Vijayawada of Andhra Pradesh and situated between Vijayawada, Khammam railway lane. The Madhira Town is known for land of freedom fighters and intellectuals.

History

This area is ruled by Mudhigonda Chalukayas, Kakatiyas, Vijayanagara dynasty, Mughal and Nizam dynasties. Sardar Jamalapuram Kesava Rao, a great freedom fighter is originated from this place. Mahatma Gandhi visited the Madhira town on 05/02/1946.
